Hotel Franz

Located super close to our ceremony venue. And to our own home. Stay here and we’re practically neighbours. Hotel Franz is a boutique hotel located in Slussen on Södermalm. It’s a pretty busy part of the city, but the hotel is very calm and a good sanctuary for anyone who likes the boutique vibe and decent hotel breakfast.

Hotel Skeppsholmen

Live on the water, right next to where the wedding dinner and party will be. Perfect for anyone who enjoys being in the city, but in a more quiet part of town. Offers brilliant morning walks by the water, with good proximity to both Torpedversktaden for brunch and Moderna Museet for some culture.

Grand Hotel

The top of the crop. Creme de la creme. For the ones who want to splurge and give yourself that little extra whilst in Stockholm, this is for you. Also located just a short walk from the evening venue of our wedding.
Even if you don’t stay here, may we at least recommend you have a drink in Cardierbaren to enjoy the inlet of Stockholm whilst sipping on a crafted cocktail.

The Hills

A classic, Stockholm Bistro with great food and tremendous staff. Located on Götgatspuckeln, it’s right off the Slussen tube station. The Hills takes its name from a novel written by a Norwegian author Matias Feldbakken, which is a short story about the drama that goes on amongst staff at an up-market restaurant. If you pay a visit to the toilets, they play the novel on repeat.

Bacchanale

At the very south of Södermalm, this fairly new place has opened its doors serving french classics but always with a modern twist. Apparently, Baccanals are the rituals performed in ancient Rome to the wine god Bachus. We love it for its interiors as much as its food and despite being in a busy area, it’s never a bad idea to pay a visit.

Stockholm Stadshotell

Now, it might be a bit odd to recommend a hotel in this restaurant section. But when the restauranteurs of Café Nizza decided to take it upon themselves to restore the old hotel, originally built in 1873, it inevitably became a frequent favourite of ours. We can’t vouch for the rooms as we’ve never spent the night (they look amazing), but the wine list is solid and the food is fantastic. Try it out!

National Museum

Going through some serious refurbishment, The Swedish National Museum reopened to the public in 2018 and is definitely one of our very favourite visits here in Stockholm. Walk through the various eras of art history and its evolution here in Sweden. But also enjoy the building and its architecture as it is. The main hall is stunning.

Rosendals Trädgård

Located at the heart of Djurgården, this is a goregous park and farm and café promoting the earth-to-table concept like no one else in Stockholm. It’s a great visit to just enjoy the greenery whilst having a good cup of coffee and a homebaked cake. Defintiely worth a stop if and when you’re strolling across Djurgården.

Skansen

Perhaps a bit childish, as one could easily take this for a zoo. But as a matter of fact, it’s not (or well, not only). Skansen is an outdoors museum with an ambition to preserve the ways of living in Sweden. Both from an historical point of view, as well as a geographical point of view. Your toast madame - Elin Johanson - has worked at Skansen and knows just about everything there is to know about this place.
